| ALLGÄU - general description of our region |
 |
The Allgäu is a region of great natural beauty and
diversity located in southernmost Germany along the Austrian and Swiss borders.
It is a place of woodland wonder, sweeping meadows, rolling green hills,
clear tumbling streams and, of course, the soaring snow-capped Alps, all-in-all,
the stuff of storybook settings.
Fittingly so, one of the most famous and well-recognized sites in all the world lies
within the Allgäu's eastern border: the castle of Neuschwanstein.
This model for Walt Disney's creation exists here for real.
Tucked in an enchanted setting of mountains and lakes, it captures the imagination
of all who visit and especially those who come with us for a short hike above the castle
(beyond the steps of most visitors)!

|
At the Allgäu's western edge lies the beautiful Lake Constance
(or Bodensee). Among many other attractions, it is home to the medieval city of
Lindau perched on a tiny island.

Both are very popular destinations, and rightfully so. But there is so much more
to discover in the Allgäu. We've been exploring this magical area most of our lives,
and have unearthed many unique sites, castles and ruins (some surprisingly
undiscovered as yet by other tourists), churches, rich cultural treasures,
charming old-world traditions, delicious regional food and drink, wildlife habitat,
recreation activities and more.

|
For our 10-day Allgäu Summer Package we've gathered together the
very best of these treasures, and invite you to come visit and enjoy them with us.
